This is a heavy stereoscope used in geological surveys for topographic analysis in 3-D. The stereoscope connects via a long sturdy arm to the table and the lenses are set above the image to be viewed. The optical unit consists of double mirrors at 45 degrees and ocular lenses. The distance between the oculars can be adjusted to suit the inter eye distance. The scope is signed DLM Paris. The original wood box is marked Institut Geographique National DLM Paris Stereoscope de Topographie Mle40 No151. The stereoscope and box are heavy, so special shipping rates apply.
