Altitude Adjustable Aneroid Barometer by Short & Mason. This aneroid barometer called ‘Stormoguide’ has a patented feature of adjusting the dial for varying altitudes. It features a dial calibrated in inches by 2/100th increments from 26 to 31 and divided into two scales, the upper one for raising barometric pressure, the lower scale for falling pressure. Both are marked with 12 weather indications, "Stormy, Cloudy, Rain, Change Fair, Warmer, etc." and is additionally marked "Copyright 1930." The dial is signed ‘Short & Mason London’ The glass crystal cover is fitted with a knurled set needle and gold lacquered rim. The whole is housed in an octagonal mahogany case inlayed with ebony and maple. The unique aspect of this barometer is that it may be set for altitude (corrected to sea level) by means of a large knurled disc on the back calibrated in feet from 0 to 3,500. Case measures 24 cm (10 inches) across in diameter. Very good functional condition.
