Early 19th Century Silver Mounted Shagreen Cased Drawing Instrument Set by Dollond. A museum quality Shagreen covered pocket wooden case with silver rim and vacant cartouche containing a set of brass drawing instruments. Comprising of ivory double parallel rule, scale rule and protractor combined and brass arch-mounted ivory sector, brass and steel compasses and nibs. Sector and scale are signed ‘Dollond London’. The case 17.5cm. (7in.) long. Dollond London, a well known scientific instrument makers and opticians founded by John Dollond (1706-1761) the inventor of the achromatic lens for telescopes.
