This is a long, 29.5 cm (11.6 inch) cabinet makers’ turnscrew. The screwdriver has a comfortable pear shaped boxwood handle and a brass ferrule. It is marked ‘Marple & Sons Sheffield’ Overall length is 45.5 cm (18 inches). Williams Marples and Sons was probably founded in 1828. the name of the company was changed around 1838 to Marples & Sons and in the 1950s was sold to Record.
