A Brass Veterinary Dosing Syringe by Ferris and Co., Bristol. This rare dosing syringe consists of a brass barrel with the Ferris coat of arms, a solid red brass plunger with ivory handle, a brass cannula and a lever operated tap. The syringe was made to aid during oral administration of medication or irrigation procedures or as an instrument for extruding fluids. Small dent on the main tube. Ferris & Co, Bristol was founded by Dr. Tilladam in 1770 as a pharmaceutical house. Ferris and Co. received a royal warrants as Chemists in the 1830s from King William IV, which was renewed in 1840 by Queen Victoria. Ferris & Co. were also distributors of surgical instruments made by quality makers and stamped with the Ferris mark.
