The set contains Lewis Pluggers model No. 7 and Model No. 8 and 7 steel end-points of different shapes for utilizing in teeth filling. The pluggers and the end-points are early 20th century dental instruments made by the Buffalo Dental Manufacturing Company (B.D.M. Co.) Buffalo, USA, and patented on May 16, 1899. Each plugger is made of a metal barrel with ebonite grip and replaceable end-point. On pressing the end-point against tooth, an internal spring is depressed against cylindrical weight; the spring is then automatically released and the weight strikes on the rear end of the end-point. The strength of the strike can be adjusted by turning the cup screw. The pluggers were used with different stopping amalgam materials such as tin, lead or gold.
