Thread Counter MIcrometer for Textiles and Fabrics

A thread counter micrometer for Cotton, Linen, Silk and other textile and fabric. This brass precision instrument helps measure the density of woven and knitted fabrics as well as wire meshes. There are two scales on either side of the brass counter: Inch scale divided into quarters and a French millimeter (m) scale. The magnifying lens ocular (X12) can be easily adjusted. The lens is mounted on a screw mechanism which allows for left to right movement along the rule. The lens swings around to allow use of both scales on either side. On the bottom of the counter are four small pins to hold the instrument in place on the fabric. The instrument comes with a red leather covered box (size: 9.5 X 7.5 X cm) lined with blue velvet and marked on top: James H. Heal & Co. Halifax Trade Mark Abonair Textile Equipment. The Heal company was established in 1872 in Halifax England and is still there today.
