This black Type II model with serial number 501613 was manufactured on June 1954 (the year Type II was first produced). This Curta (invented by Curt Herzstark) was made in Liechtenstein by Contina Ltd. All of the mechanical and other parts are functioning very well, including: The main operating handle that can be pulled up or down. The carriage drum that could be raised and turned. The setting knobs that are used for selecting any number from 1 – 9. The counting dials that shows the results and the counter position. The clearing lever that by rotation can clear the dials. The reversing lever with its two working positions. The special metal shock-resistant carrying case, opened with a clockwise twist and with CURTA in silver paint on the lid. With a rubber O ring between the cap and base for tight sealing. There are a few small paint scratches on the barrel and bottom collar. Included is a booklet (45 pages) of instructions and exercises that is a copy made from the original manual.
