A 1920's brass balance to weigh in the range of 0-50 lb. This salter balance is marked - Salter's Pocked Balance, Made in England No.3. Richard Salter established the Salter Company in 1782 in West Bromwich England, making pocket steelyards. By 1825 his nephew George had taken over the company, which became known as George Salter & Co, manufacturers of bayonets, scales and spring balances.
