A beautifully made small travelling inkwell marked 1831 London AD maybe Archibald Douglas. This William 4th inkwell is 4 cm high 3 cm diameter. The silver hinged lid has a screw mechanism to prevent leakage. The silver top is handsomly decorated with a machine turned design with a cartouche in its center. The decorated screw handle folds onto the lid for a more compact effect. The multifaceted well in is excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are 5 hallmarks on the silver lid: AD makers mark, William the IV portrait, the lion passant, the date letter q and the leopard for London assayers.
