The set of weights are marked on the front side with values of: 240, 60, 40, and 20 Grains. On the reverse side the weights shown are 240 grains, 1 Drachm, 2 Scuples and 1 Scruple. Verification marks of the set includes: Elizabethian standard numbered stamp of a royal crown over cipher EIIR and 374. The weights were made during the 1950's. In the version of weights used by apothecaries, there are 20 grains in a scruple, 3 scruples in a dram, and 8 drams in an ounce. Dram (=Drachm) is a unit of weight in the traditional system of English apothecaries, equal to 60 grains, 3 scruples, 1/8 troy ounce, or approximately 3.8879 gram
