Jerusalem Olive Wood Camel Inkwell Early 20th Century

Item#: IW357

SOLD

An olivewood camel resting on a circular piece of olive wood. This early 20th century inkwell was made in Jerusalem probably by the Bezalel School of Art. The saddle howdah opens to reveal an inkpot within. The latch is made of copper with a flower embossed on it. Around the rim of the olive wood base, the word Jerusalem is inscribed in English and in Hebrew. The glass insert has a small chip missing but this creates no problem for retaining the ink.Bezalel?
