This is an original vintage Albumen print on a thin sheet of paper with sepia color and slightly glossy surface, signed in the negative. A unique Diagonal view of the Damascus gate. The Damascus gate, so named because from it, starts the route northward towards the Syrian city of Damascus, is the most ornate of all gates leading to the old city of Jerusalem. It was built by the Ottoman Turks in the beginning of the 16th century as the main gate to the city. The photograph is numbered 1039. Size: 28 X 22 cm (11 x 8.5 inches
