A square silver match-safe/ vesta case with engraved foliate decorations and an empty shield cartouche in the center. The lid is snap hinged, and the case has attached bail on the side. The ridges on surface for stiking the matches are bold and have, little, to no wear. The hallmarks are stamped on inside lip: The lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham, the letter n for 1912 and RBS for the Robinson Brothers silversmiths.
