A small glass pot with silver top with original brush. A gum pot was used to seal envelopes and glue stamps before they had gummed edges and backs. Stamps started having gum on their back only from the very end of the 19th century. The round silver top is decorate with an embosed floral pattern and has an elongated handle. it is hallmarked very clearly Birmingham 1909 made by JG & B. The brush still retains its original bristles. Overall height is 8 cm (3.1 inches)
