The tray has postage rates marked in 2 cartouches: Inland Parcel Post, not exceeding 11 lb and Inland Letter Post not exceeding 4 lb both with price lists following. The prices probably relate to the end of the 19th century. Overall size is 38 cm in width and 22 cm in height. Sampson Mordan was born in 1790 and died in 1843. S. Mordan & Co. are first listed in 1825 at 22 Castle Street, City Road as pencil and pen manufacturers. They started manufacturing scales in 1839. Mordan & Co. ceased trading in 1941.
