Fowler & Co. in Manchester made this pocket calculator during the 1930’s. It was designed for engineers; draughtsman and science students with several advantages over straight slide rules. The calculator consists of two dials and two rotating knobs. These dials are synchronized with a rotating radial hairline cursor to solve problems with cubes; powers; roots, Log, sin, cos, tan as well as routine arithmetic. The rule is marked 'Fowler's Long Scale Calculator' and 'Patent' and 'Fowler's (Calculators) Ltd Sale). Comes in its original leather case. Fowler's was founded in 1898 by William Henry Fowler. He was joined by his son Harold in 1905.
