Plan de Jerusalem (In French). Drawn and Engraved by: E. Ruze delt. 149 Rue d'Alesia. Year Printed: c. 1889, in Paris. Size (width X height): 10 inch X 12 inch. Color: Printed in 3 colors. Echelle (Scale): About 1:5300. Map Description: This map was printed after the inauguration of Notre Dam de France (built by Peres Augustines de L’Assomption), and the opening of the ‘New Gate’ (1887). The map shows the buildings of St. Louis Hospital and the convent of the Reparatrices that were built in 1888. A French bank (Credit Lyonnais) and Post (Telegraphe) were operating outside Jaffa Gate. (The population of Jerusalem during the 1880’s totals approximately 18,000 Jews, 10,000 Arabs and 3000 Christians). Index and Explanations: A list of 36 most important sites as well as XI stations of the cross (Via Dolorosa), are marked. A scale of 200 meters is included.
