Map Description: This famous map of Chambers shows the territories of the 12 tribes of Israel that were aligned on both banks of the river Jordan. It emphasizes Jewish Levitical settlements, and the territory of each tribe is printed in a different color. Towns and villages are named in ancient, and modern terminology, main roads and the railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem are printed. This map is reduced by permission from the maps published by the committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund. Scale: 17 miles to an inch. Inset: ‘Plan of Ancient Jerusalem’.
