Stanhope Bone And Brass Dip Pen Showing Views From East Bourne, Sussex England. A bone Stanhope pen and letter-opener with a small lens inserted. The Stanhope Lens is a cylindrical lens with spherical ends of different radii. Showing through the lens are 6 views of the sights of Eastbourne: Royal Parade, Grand Parade, the Pavilion, the Convalescent Home, the Town Hall and the Beachy Head lighthouse. The tiny transparent photo was made by Photomicrography. The lenses and photos were made in France and are dated to the end of the 19th century.
